The hotelThe idea of building a hotel in the heart of the city at first came up in 1867. Hotel Erzsébet was opened in 1873, the year when Budapest, the Hungarian capital, was born by the union of Pest, Buda and Óbuda. The small hotel was named - with her permission - after Sissi, Queen Elizabeth (Erzsébet), the wife of Emperor Francis Joseph, ruling that time the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Since then the hotel was completely re-built. Guest roomsThe stylish rooms with comfortable furniture and warm, vivid colours, offer individually controllable air-condition, sound-proof windows, direct-dial telephone, Internet access, colour TV with pay-movies and satellite programmes and minibar. From the upper floors a capturing panorama opens to the Gellért Hill and to the old, tiled downtown roofs.
